Requirements
What cables in medical devices have to deliver.
Cables in medical devices carry power, measurement signals and data, often in a confined space, in moving device parts and in environments that are cleaned and disinfected regularly. That results in requirements for the cable construction, the sheath material, the connectors and the processing.

Which materials and components come into question is determined by the specification of your device. We select the components accordingly and document the selection.
Specification
Your specification is the benchmark.
For a medical device the manufacturer carries the responsibility for approval and conformity. Our job is to implement the agreed specification reliably: with defined components, documented production steps and electrical testing.
Our MES makes every delivery traceable down to the individual cable. Which tests, records and evidence you need for your documentation is something we define together at the start of the project. More on this under Testing & documentation.
From sample to series production
First the sample, then the series.
New devices usually start with a few samples that still change in the course of development. We produce samples and pre-series at short notice in prototyping and carry the released version over unchanged into series production.
On request we design the cable system in our own design office with EPLAN, from the cable routing in the 3D model through to the production drawing. Sensor cables, with NTC temperature sensors for example, we assemble from sample to series production.

Frequently asked questions.
Do you produce cable sets for medical devices?
Yes. We develop and manufacture wiring harnesses and customised cable systems for medical devices as well as for diagnostic and therapy solutions, to the specification of the device manufacturer.
Which documents do I receive with a delivery?
We define that at the start of the project. These can include test records of the electrical test, bills of materials listing the components used and traceability of every delivery down to the individual cable.
Which cables are suitable for moving device parts?
Cables with fine strands and a flexible, abrasion resistant sheath that the manufacturer approves for the movement in question. Which cable fits depends on the bending radius, the type of movement and the cleaning. We clarify that on the basis of your requirements.
Can you assemble sensor cables with temperature sensors?
Yes. We assemble sensor cables, for example with NTC temperature sensors and micro connectors, individually or in series production.
Do you also take on the design?
Yes. Our design office develops cable systems with EPLAN, from the cable routing in the 3D model through to the production drawing and bill of materials. More on this under Development & design.
