How it all began
When Norbert Warda founded Powertune in 2006, he brought with him decades of experience in cable assembly and a wide ranging supplier network. His aim was simple: to implement special requirements quickly, without long development times and without the rigid structures of large corporations.
The first orders came from vehicle accessories and the automotive industry: customised cable systems, connectors and adapters. The first collaborations with well known customers followed in 2007, and by 2008 Powertune was already producing around 10,000 wiring harnesses and cable systems a year.
Automation, testing, new industries
The first fully automatic Komax cable processing machines arrived in 2009, followed in 2011 by soldering lines, ESD protected workstations and automated electrical testing with a test report. From 2013 Powertune developed its own injection moulding tools and connectors, and from 2016 mechanical engineering, special vehicle construction and electrical engineering were added as new industries.
The next generation
Philip Warda joined the family business in 2018. With him came the digitalisation of production: an ERP system, in 2019 an intelligent warehouse with automated storage locations and seamless batch and process traceability, and in 2021/2022 an MES for planning production orders.
Our own software brand WEKAS grew out of this practical work.
Powertune today
Since 2023 our CAD design office has been developing complete cable systems with EPLAN, through to PPAP documentation. Our machinery has grown steadily since 2020, most recently with the semi-automatic machines Komax Delta 260 and Schäfer SealLine 240-1 ADVANCED and the Schleuniger B340. Since May 2026 our electricity has come from our own photovoltaic system with battery storage.
